Justice Faaaaades.......

27TH, 2010
Lord
Justice made his first start at Laurel Park this weekend, and
despite getting some love from the handicappers still turned in
a dismal performance. I was not able to see the race, as it was
not broadcast on TVG, but hope to catch a replay.
Lord
Justice was entered in Race 10, the Harrison E. Johnson Memorial
$70,000 Stakes race. He had jockey Harry Vega up for this race.
Morning Line odds had him at 5/2, with the favorite Indian Dancer
at 7/5. From the looks of the recap we had a bit of the same results
we've been seeing up until now. LJ takes the lead, and fades on
the stretch.
Let's
hope he can find some return to form before Todd Pletcher drops
him.
Jon
White's Analysis:
1.
INDIAN DANCE ran second in the John B. Campbell Handicap
at Laurel on Feb. 15 to snap a three-race winning streak. Trainer
Larry Murray was pleased with Indian Dance's performance in the
Campbell. "It was a top notch effort," Murray said.
"It was a very speed favoring racetrack that day and nobody
went with Redding Colliery [the winner]." According to Murray,
prior to the Campbell, Indian Dance had "missed six days
of training because of the snow." This looks like it's a
good spot for Indian Dance to resume his winning ways. (WON $3.40)
2. EDDIE C. should be viewed as a contender.
He finished sixth in the Campbell, then ran third in an allowance/optional
claiming race at Laurel on March 19 while earning a fine Beyer
Speed Figure (97) despite racing wide. (Third)
3. LORD JUSTICE ran third at Aqueduct on Feb.
7 while making his 2010 debut in an allowance/optional claiming
contest. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Lord Justice won the Spend
a Buck Stakes and Big Brown Stakes at Monmouth Park last year.
(Fourth)

February
7TH, 2010
Lord
Justice made his 2010 debut today on the inner track at Aqueduct.
He started the third race, a 1 1/16 mi inner track Allowance Optional
Claimer. Morning line odds had him at 4/1, but he went off closer
to 12/1. According to the Past Performances, this race didn't
quite suit him, and it showed from the betting window. Most jumped
on Wishful Tomcat, going for his 5th straight win.
Out
of the gate we had a bit of excitement as the Migs got the boot
from National Pride. He looked like he was going to be fine. Lord
Justice and Wishful Tomcat went to the lead, while the rider less
National Pride stayed in frame, though on the outer rail. It was
quite interesting to watch actually.
Coming
around to the stretch, More Than a Reason started to make his
move, and Lord Justice, instead of digging in started to fade.
It quickly became a two horse battle, and the long shot More Than
a Reason came out on top. Lord Justice was able to hang on to
third, but it really was an empty third as there were only 4 horses
racing after the loss of National Pride's jockey at the start.
So
what's next? Lord Justice seems to have very long layoffs between
races. Will this trend continue? I'd love to go see him race again
some time, but he never quite seems to be racing the right fields
lately. We'll see what 2010 brings.

Proving
the pattern true, Lord Justice put up a clunker Friday night at
the Meadowlands. Lord Justice took the early lead, and lead down
the backstretch. Coming around the corner we waited for him to
be urged onward and race down the stretch for the finish, but
he made no attempt. There seemed to only be light urging, I guess
DeCarlo realized he was spent. Didn't seem like the race was all
that fast. Not sure why he keeps alternating wins.

Story from the Meadowlands Web Site:
Bad
Action Proves To Be Smart Bet In Pegasus
Friday, November 6, 2009
Bad Action
and jockey Dave Cohen drew clear in the final strides to win the
$150,000 Grade 3 Pegasus Stakes at 11-1 odds on Friday night at
Meadowlands Racetrack.
Bad Action
settled at the back of the pack while the quick-footed Lord Justice
dictated the early pace and slid into fourth as they reached the
half-mile marker in :46. He swung to the outside on the final
turn and edged past the drifting Big Top for a half-length victory.
Iqbaal, the 4-5 favorite, moved wide on the turn but could not
catch the leaders and finished third. Bad Action stopped the teletimer
in 1:49 for the 1 1/8 miles on a fast main track and paid $24
to win.
“There
was a pretty fast pace out there and he was pretty much against
the bit the whole way,” Cohen said. “Gary’s
[trainer Gary Contessa] only instruction to me was to get him
outside, and I found out today that he has a big run. I know a
lot of jockeys say this, but the whole way, I was gathered with
horse. I could have made the lead at any time.”
Pegasus
Stakes - Grade 3
November
6TH, 2009
Lord
Justice is entered to run today at the Meadowlands. I should say
tonight, because he is slated for the 8th race, estimated post
time of 10:08pm. It is the $150,000 Pegasus stakes at 1 1/8 miles
and he will be ridden by Chris DeCarlo. Currently he is the morning
line favorite at 5/2. See the entries
here at Equibase. If he follows his current pattern, expect
a not so good race by LJ (Loss - Win - Loss - Win - Loss - Win
- Loss - Win - ????). Lets hope he breaks the trend. Hopefully
some race analysis this evening. Enjoy the start of the Breeders
Cup!
