Mustang Breaks his Maiden
April
2ND, 2010
Golden
Mustang made his 3rd start of 2010 and broke his maiden in an
$8000 Maiden Claiming Race. He went off as the odds on favorite.Jockey
Winston Thompson had the mount, and was able to hang on for the
win by the race description account. The race was Race 9 at Laurel
Park, 1 mile on the dirt.

Mustang Finishes 4th

Golden
Mustang made his 4 year old debut today in the 3rd race at Philadelphia
Raceway Park. The 3rd race was a $20,000 Maiden Claimer. Golden
Mustang went off from post 2 with Jockey Justin Shepherd with
morning line odds of 5/2. The track handicapper picked him to
finish 1st.
After
a clean start, Golden Mustang was able to get to the inside in
turn 1. He saved ground down the back stretch running in 3rd.
At the top of the turn he was in good shape to chase down the
two leaders, but lacked a strong response. He ended up finishin
4th.
I
thought he looked good, and with some more training I hope he
can improve on this outing. All horses appeared to come out of
the race uninjured.

Golden Mustang has developed some roughening/new bone
formation
(osteochodroma), and mild spurring on the back of the left radius bone
just
above the knee. This causes some irritation and synovial swelling of
the
carpal sheath.
Surgery has been scheduled to evaluate and debride the affected area.
This
is a straight forward procedure with good/excellent prognosis for future
racing soundness.
